Maybe you've seen how to make these easy ragballs or "snowballs" before, but if you haven't, I'd like to show you how today. They are a great way to "up-cycle" old satin or styrofoam Christmas ornaments and a garage sale bedspread.
I make most of my snowballs from the old satin ornaments I gather during the summer at garage sales. Sometimes I find styrofoam balls from unfinished craft projects or with a few sequins pushed in. Those will work fine too. The whole idea here is to find an inexpensive and lightweight sphere as the base for your snowball.
Next you need a white "candlewick" bedspread. These are all over the place. If you don't have one, check out the thrift stores or eBay. I guarantee you can have one in a week.
Tear or cut the bedspread into approximately one inch strips. Take one long strip and hot glue one end to a styrofoam ball. Wrap the strip around the ball until it is covered. If a second strip is needed, just glue it on. Add more glue wherever it's needed. Secure the end of the strip with glue. That's it!
I like this project because it's not Christmas-specific. That means you can keep it out all winter. Also, my friends that don't celebrate Christmas can enjoy this craft too.
